Susanna had to say...hmm..I love to read (obviously!) I love quilting books and mostly romance and mysteries. I don't usually like anything too 'serious' though I do enjoy something thought provoking or emotional from time to time. I also enjoy music and quilting(gee another obvious!) I guess 'cozies' would be the term for the type of reading I generally do for mysteries and romance, well just about anything I guess from the Love Inspired (occasionally) to erotica. some of my favorite books/authors are: Nora Roberts, Jayne Ann Krentz , Janet Evanovich, Earlene Fowler and some specific books by different authors. I also enjoyed the books My Name is Asher Lev and The Gift of Asher Lev by Chaim Potok and The Coffin Quilt by Ann Rinaldi (these 3 aren't my usual type reading so they really made an impression on me!)A Tree Grows in Brooklyn is a more recent favorite. I still enjoy reading kid/teen books esp older ones like the original Boxcar Children by Gertrude Chandler Warner ( the newer ones are nice too but not the same at all) iwth the first 2 being my absolute faves (boxcar children and surprise island), Trixie Beldens (my faves all through jr high and still are) with the red trailer mystery number one on my list!, of course the Nancy Drews though I wasn't addicted to those like the Trixies. and I can't forget the Little House series by Laura Ingalls Wilder with Little House in the Big Woods and On the Banks of Plum Creek my 2 all-time faves there! I tend to hang onto books I really like and often re-read books! I seem to like them better the 2nd or 3rd time through sometimes! ! 10/08 update: Well, I'm now into light paranormal(vamps and werewolves) and recently ordered the Harry Potter series to start sometime or other..also read Storm Front by Jim Butcher which I really enjoyed(urban fantasy) and more recenly I've decided historical romance ain't so bad LOL! I still don't care for horror and prefer romance funny and the plots 'light' though I've ventured into more serious stuff. My more serious reads lately have been 'A Streetcar Named Desire', a play by Tennessee Williams which I really enjoyed and I didnt' have so much anger towards Stan as the back of the book implied. After all, all the people were pretty whacked in that story and trying to get something from someone! oh, and Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury..this was a sr reading book in high school back in '84 and '85 and I didn't remember much from it..glad I read it but seriously doubt I'll read it again :-) not my cuppa per se. I also read Joy in the Morning by Betty Smith and really enjoyed that one! 11/08 update: I have found several favorite authors this year! Ones where I ordered and read all their books I could find and would grab a new one within a week or so of its being released! Such a great feeling when I find something/someone who just 'clicks' for me! Anyways, they are Marianne Stillings, Janet Chapman, Kerrelyn Sparks(Light paranormal romance books), and Robyn Carr. Right now I'm optimistic about Karen Marie Moning but only 2 books down with her Highlander series so far but both have been good! I also have a stack of Amanda Ashley's paranormal romance to try. These are just a couple from my huge-mongous TBR! |
